2017 GAD Institute
The Government Affairs Directors’ Institute is an annual professional development conference for state and local real estate association professionals who provide guidance to and work for associations in the areas of government affairs, political affairs, legislative or regulatory affairs, lobbying, advocacy, RPAC fundraising, campaigns, community outreach and/or all REALTOR® Party initiatives. The Institute provides a means for these industry professionals to meet, exchange ideas and best practices, as well as gain valuable career skills and networking opportunities in order to provide the best value and information to the real estate industry.

Learn the best practices for creating soundbites for media and elected officials. Develop talking points for members. Learn how to deal with crisis communications, interviews and avoiding communications pitfalls, like getting off message.

Field Trip: More than Getting In Your Steps -- Why Walkable Communities are the Latest Trend in Real Estate (Pre-registration required. Seating limited to the first 30 registrants).
Learn the qualities and statistics for walkable communities and why these communities are where people are moving. Then put on your walking shoes to look at what is in, or not in, a community that affects walkability (less than one mile). Make a difference when you go home by applying the information to influence decisions and make your community more walkable.

RPAC Online Fundraising Workshop - Bring Your Laptop!
Lean how to fundraise online and use email to increase your RPAC investments. Join us for a hands-on workshop where you will learn how to build a successful RPAC email campaign from start to finish using tools and services provided free by NAR. Bring an email message you want to send to members or use one of our templates to get started. You’ll learn how to include customized stationary, embed images, load messages, select recipients and schedule your email for the best time. Our tools make it easy for everyone! Additionally, you’ll learn how to use your results to improve future fundraising campaigns.

Plan Your Way to RPAC Success: Meeting your NAR RPAC Goals
Increase your participation and Major Investor numbers, with advice on how to create a fundraising plan. Lauren Facemire & Peter Kelly present the new NAR RPAC Goals and Recognition (the new Triple Crown and President’s Cup goal criteria and the new Triple Crown and President’s Cup awards for local associations), and then discuss innovative fundraising events that help associations meet their goals. RPAC grants will also be discussed. Afterwards, attendees form groups to fill out an event planning form.
