A lifelong Annapolitan, Josh Cohen lives in West Annapolis with his wife and daughter. He graduated from the Key School, earned a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the University of Maryland and has completed credits towards a Master's in Public Administration from the University of Baltimore. He works as a Program Director for the Maryland Crime Victims' Resource Center. Prior to that he worked in the criminal justice field for five years, most recently as a state Parole and Probation Agent. Josh was twice elected to the Annapolis City Council and served from 2001 to 2006 as the Alderman representing Ward 8 (Eastport). He was elected to his second term by the widest margin of any candidate in the 2005 city election. His past civic service includes serving on the boards of the Eastport Civic Association, the Annapolis Recreation and Parks Advisory Board, and the City and County's joint Transit Advisory Committee. He is a past chairman of GreenScape, the OIC Job Readiness Center, and the Annapolis Democratic Central Committee. He also is a "Founding Father" and ex-Premier of the Maritime Republic of Eastport. Josh was elected to the County Council in 2006 and is serving his first term which expires in December of 2010. |
