The short explanation of this alert was:

Please ask your Senator to support an amendment preventing large new costs and delays to home sales!

MANDATORY ENERGY SCORING FOR ALL HOME SALES IS UP FOR A VOTE ON WEDNESDAY!

On Wednesday, January 9th, the full Senate is expected to vote on S.2457, AN ACT TO GENERATE RENEWABLE ENERGY AND EFFICIENCY NOW. The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® feels that homeowners should not be required to spend hundreds of dollars on home energy scoring tests at every home sale.  If you agree, the time to act is now! Your State Senators need to hear from you TODAY. REALTORS® must urge the Senate to adopt amendment number 44, which will create a commission to study the issue to determine what, if any, action is needed.  As the voice for real estate in Massachusetts we have a duty prevent mandatory testing on energy efficiency that is not necessary and will not result in the conservation of energy but could cost homeowners an additional FIFTEEN MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR!!

TAKE ACTION NOW, it is just two easy clicks.  Send your email letter to your State Senator by clicking on the “send this message” icon to the right. If REALTORS® like you don’t speak up; the Commonwealth may mandate the adoption of energy scoring at every home sale which will delay the process and increase costs!  For more information please contact the MAR government affairs department at info@marealtor.com.
